Jean Binta Breeze, who wrote "Hallelujah Anyhow" the first BBC TV feature I directed, is not only a great screenwriter whose work got us into Sundance in 1992 and made the centerpiece feature at the London Film Festival, but she is even better known as a brilliant poet. Her work is well worth tracking down. I've just heard she has been awarded an MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours this year. Congratulations to Jean for that and all the other honours she has received. Here she is reading her work ...
