After a morning of writing romance I went to the SFIFF and saw Andrea Arnold's "Wuthering Heights" The movie is a demanding, unique adaptation, bravely spoken in the voice of the filmmaker. I was deeply impressed, and totally immersed in a world which had little to do with the language of Bronte but everything to do with the novel's spirit. Not since the Polanski Macbeth have I seen such a truly cinematic adaptation of a classic. For anyone who loves Terrence Malik or Ken Loach this is a must.
