Past few weeks I've really been enjoying listening to radio drama on the BBC website. Meanwhile in the states there's This American Life - not drama but a great magazine show with stories that always really engage, amuse, and sometimes really move one.

There's been some great stuff recently... my highlight of recent weeks was a radio adaptation of Ronald Harwood's An English Tragedy about John Amery who was executed for treason shortly after the second world war. Then there was a wonderful play about an editor at a failing London publishing house who publishes an agony memoir of an Afghan woman abused by the Taliban etc - only to discover, too late that the whole thing was faked. You should check out a comedy series called Clare in the Community - which is about a social worker. I love Clare!

It's not deep, but it usually has half a dozen laughs and a few smiles in it...

Yes, I really enjoyed Clare. I've also improved the link so all of us can go directly to the drama page.

Yes but you can listen to all the shows here on the i-pod/computer via that site. Though it's not the same ... Here there's a show on NPR called This American Life that's absolutely wonderful, you might enjoy it.

Hi |I've just listened to Count Arthur Strong on radio - irritable opinionated elderly man - makes me chuckle!

Check this one out... it was on this afternoon, directed my a mate of mine, Marc Beeby. Marc's directing Devil in the Fog which I'm adapting for Radio 4 at the moment.

Hi, just listened to The Last Witch Trail, really quite touching. The unstated complete love between the two women was what I liked the most. Marc Beeby (I bet he gets very tired of the obvious joke ... Beeby C.(?)) directs with a light touch. Looking forward to Devil In The Fog. Thanks for the plug.
