Jean Binta Breeze, who wrote "Hallelujah Anyhow" the first BBC TV feature I directed, is not only a great screenwriter whose work got us into Sundance in 1992 and made the centerpiece feature at the London Film Festival, but she is even better known as a brilliant poet. Her work is well worth tracking down. I've just heard she has been awarded an MBE in the Queens Birthday Honours this year.
